7-13 Sep 2026
Invitation
The Polish Watercolour Society is honoured, for the second time in Poland, to host the Symposium and International Watercolour Exhibition under the auspices of the European Confederation of Watercolour Societies (ECWS), entitled:
„29th ECWS EUROPEAN WATERCOLOUR EXHIBITION & SYMPOSIUM – GDAŃSK 2026"
The Society has chosen the city which, in September 2026, will for several days become the Capital of European Watercolour Art.
We warmly invite all our European friends, artists, and admirers of watercolour painting to Gdańsk – a magnificent cultural centre, rich in outstanding works of architecture, painting, and sculpture, and endowed with a unique atmosphere that is so inspiring to our creativity and, of course, to plein air painting.
We invite you to the city where in 1980 „Solidarity" was born – a movement that remains essential to all of us in today’s world, full of unrest and uncertainty.
We believe that our meeting in Gdańsk will also become a symbol of unity, solidarity, and artistic freedom.
Ryszard Rogala
President, Polish Watercolour Society
Why we have chosen Gdańsk?
A week at our disposal is, of course, far too little to fully experience the beauty of the city and truly get to know it. That is why we have decided to dedicate the first three days to exploring Gdańsk individually, to spontaneous outdoor painting sessions, and to getting acquainted with the city. During this time, alongside guest registration, we will organise workshops and demonstrations by Polish artists – members of our Society.
We would like to show you Gdańsk in its intellectual and artistic dimensions, but also as a city full of life and the joy of its people.
We will organise competitions and exhibitions of works created during the week-long stay in Poland, in the watercolour technique – a medium that, like no other, symbolises love, freedom, and diversity.
